Most charitable groups are able to access additional funding from grant making trusts. This is a good way get funding for specific projects or equipment. There are a however advantages and disadvantages to this

Pro’s

  • Money Free money, it may be the only way to get the funding for the project you want to undertake.
  • Recognition This may help you to raise your profile locally by getting coverage about your funded project.
  • Organisational Development The opportunity to develop the skills of the business and those working within it.

Cons

  • Risk There is no guarantee you will get the money
  • Time Form filling can be very time-consuming, and some schemes may require interviews or other procedures to be followed. Once funding has been provided you may have to allow time for monitoring of the spend.
  • Strings There will always be conditions to using the funding. It is important to understand that you may be asked to repay funding if you do not fulfil the agreements.
